What
name is right for me?
If you are a business, we recommend a .com suffix.
It is the first extension that most people try when
searching for a site. The general rules of thumb for
the suffixes supported by SpeedyISP.net are:
.com - commercial entities such as corporations.
.net - An abbreviation
for network administration.
.org - An abbreviation
for non-profit organizations and institutions
Avoid
trademarked names
There are two main reasons for this. First, companies
spend much time and money creating their brand. Second,
many companies are no longer paying large amounts
to get their names back. Rather, they are calling
their lawyers. Also, pending legislation will soon
make it very difficult to register someone else's
trademarked name.
Register
your domain ASAP
You must register soon to avoid losing the name you
desire. You do not have to be a web master or have
an e-commerce vision to secure your domain. Just go

One
domain name may not be enough
Sometimes, it isn't a bad idea to register several
similar domain names. If you have "mydomain.com",
register "mydomain.net" so no one else takes it. You
can register your full company and a shorter, easier
to remember version. Some people even register common
misspellings of their company's name.
Valid
character types
Just a reminder. Domain names can only use letters,
numbers, and hyphens ("-"). Spaces and other symbols
are not allowed. Cannot begin or end with a hyphen.
Domain names are not case sensitive. Domains ending
in .com, .net, and .org domain names cannot exceed
63 characters total.
Ask
for other opinions
When you have settled on several available name choices,
see what your friends and clients have to say. A name
that may make perfect sense to you may be too hard
for other people to remember. Is your domain easy
to say? Is it hard to spell? Do you have to explain
why you chose the name?
